Celebrity Concert with Arturo Sandoval
Unearthing America's Musical Treasures
The Library of Congress Project Concert
Featuring Arturo Sandoval Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra,
the Suite from Lin-Manuel Miranda's smash Broadway hit Hamilton,
and several "unearthed" works including America's first trumpet concerto.
Featured on NPR this past spring, Maestro Bartram and his team of national researchers
have worked with the Library of Congress to unearth great orchestral works
that have been forgotten over time or have never before been performed.
The UMW Philharmonic will perform several of these works, all masterpieces with historical significance.
Rarer still will be the premier of an unknown work from the early 19th. century,
now recognized to be America's first concerto for trumpet and orchestra.
To perform this work, we're honored to feature legendary trumpeter Arturo Sandoval.
Sandoval has been awarded 10 Grammy Awards, six Billboard Awards, and an Emmy Award
This is a concert you will not want to miss!
